Today we're happy to introduce more flexibility to your invoicing flow with new custom line item categories. Here's how it works:
When creating a line item on your invoices or estimates you've always had the ability to select a category from the "Item" menu for each line item:
In the past we've been admittedly stubborn about giving you the ability to add your own categories to that menu (due to our strong opinions about keeping those categories very high level, and reserving the "Description" field of a line item for any additional specificity).
But over time you've
worn us down convinced us with some very good use cases! So we're now providing an interface on your Invoice Settings screen to customize those line item categories as needed:
You'll see Harpoon's default list of categories, but you can easily add your own new, custom categories.
Deleting categories from the list won't affect any existing invoices or estimates that use those deleted categories. A deleted category simply won't appear as an option for any newly created invoices or estimates.
Note: Harpoon's default list of categories are locked and cannot be deleted. This is because the default categories are tied to other features in Harpoon.
